Qureshi for distribution of Zakat funds among deserving people
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi says some forces want to destabilize Pakistan and harm China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, he said foes of Pakistan cannot see CPEC making progress, offering greater connectivity and commercial activities to the region. Referring to Gwadar terrorist attack, the Minister said Pakistan will not blame any country without proper investigation. Responding to a question, he said Pakistan Air Force will respond befittingly in case of any misadventure by India.
Foreign Minister Qureshi also directed the authorities concerned to ensure distribution of Zakat funds among the deserving people during holy month of Ramazan. He was chairing a meeting at Circuit House to review performance of different district departments, here on Sunday. Zakat funds worth Rs 153 million would be distributed through Zakat committees, he said. He also ordered for issuance of a notification for formation of new Zakat committees. The foreign minister was briefed about different uplift schemes. Local parliamentarians were also present.
Moreover, Foreign Minister Qureshi said here the incumbent government was strongly believed in transparency and merit. He said this while chairing a meeting to review the performance of various departments here. Addressing the meeting, the Foreign Minister observed that in past, the development work was not carried out as per wishes of the local people. In past, funds for the region were spent in Lahore which increased a sense of deprivation among the local people.
