Religious freedom, Minorities are at risk in India

Dr. Talat Wizarat IR Expert, stated that Pakistan has done a great job at diplomatic level in effectively highlighting the Kashmir issue at all international forums but a lot is still needed to be done. We have to explain our point of view regarding Indian atrocities and human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir to newly elected US President as he actively supports human rights. Pakistan should adopt a pro-active approach to convey the world about Kashmiris’ sufferings for the last many decades. Moreover, abrogation of article 35-A and 370 by Modi’s government in Jammu and Kashmir is clear violation of UN Charter and international laws. The world must see what India is doing with its own people. The minorities are at risk in India as far as religious freedom is concerned. Similarly, the Indian farmers are protesting against government’s agricultural reforms. It means entire India is in the grip of frustration and anarchy. The United Nations must play a leading role to ensure implementation of its own resolutions on Kashmir issue, failing which the regional peace and stability will be at stake. Although, India is a big trade market but the civilized world must pressurize New Delhi to give Kashmiris their right to self-determination.

Dr. Huma Baqai IR Expert highlighted that the Kashmir dispute is seven decades-old issues and the longest standing conflict on UN charter. Determination of the Kashmiris to get their right to self-determination has changed the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan has made successful diplomatic efforts to internationalize the Kashmir dispute at the global level. The debates on human rights violations in IIOJ&K are underway in European and British parliaments. It is a fact that the policies of Narendra Modi have pushed India into a closed alley, as the government is facing certain internal issues. Modi’s government has partially resumed internet services in the occupied valley due to international pressure. We must appreciate the determination of Kashmiris that despite of worst Indian atrocities, the freedom movement is continuing with full momentum and huge Indian forces cannot suppress the indigenous struggle of Kashmiris. OIC has produced certain resolutions on Kashmir issue so far, but is unable to ensure their implementation. It means the global priorities have changed. Some Arab countries have now convergence with Israel and conflicts with Iran. Dr. Aliya Hashmi Economist says, Indian attitude has almost halted the functionality of SAARC. India must focus on its internal issues as most of the Indian population is living below the poverty line. On the other hand, the farmers are protesting against Modi’s agricultural policies. It is time for Indian government to review its policies, otherwise New Delhi will continue to be isolated. Pakistan in cooperation with China is paying attention to strengthen its economy and taking all possible measures to develop strong trade ties with other countries.
