Amid pandemic outbreak, the Second trilateral summit of the foreign ministers of Pakistan-Turkey-Azerbaijan will be held in Islamabad today to hold dialogue on global and regional concerns and possibilities of enhanced cooperation in all areas of common interest. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu is already in Pakistan on an official visit and to be joined by Azerbaijan for the trilateral meeting. Pakistan holds strong relations with both the states and looks to further proper the ties. During the visits, both visiting Foreign Ministers will hold various meetings with different key stake holders of the state. Upon the arrival of the dignitaries, the Foreign office stated the cordial ties between Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey are deeply embedded in common faith, culture, and history and underpinned by exceptional mutual trust and respect and this summit would prove to further consolidate the bilateral ties with the two nations. The three Foreign Ministers will review the entire gamut of bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues. It is pertinent to highlight that the current government has been proactive in shaping an unprecedented bonhomie with Turkey and Azerbaijan. Apart from their bilateral ties, both states have been a staunch advocate of promoting Muslim harmony, and also collective efforts have been made in the recent past to combat the drastic challenges from Islamophobia. Concerning Turkey, the Sixth meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council was held in Islamabad on 13-14 February 2020 under the chairmanship of H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and H.E. Imran Khan. Within this mechanism, 73 agreements and documents have been signed, so far. Both countries have decided to uplift the trading relations between the two states. Various Chinese companies have invested in Pakistan and this prospect to be further strengthened through establishing a sustainable mechanism of trading partnership. Likewise, Azerbaijan is one of the key merging trading partners of Pakistan. Furthermore, Azerbaijan Pakistan and Turkey vow to further diversify their defense and security corporations. Besides, tourism, people- people linkage is another vital aspect of the harmonious relationship between three states. Indeed, Turkey, Azerbaijan has been amongst the most reliable partners for Pakistan and it has assisted Pakistan on its narrative over the Kashmir crisis. As the forefront actors of OIC, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey needs to contribute to global crisis mitigation of the Muslim world.
