Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has emerged as the single largest party in the Senate followed by the Pakistan People’s Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, PTI bagged 13 seats in today’s election, PPP got eight, Balochistan Awami Party six, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl three, while Awami National Party and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement two each, Balochistan National Party one, and two seats won by independent candidates.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PTI won 10 seats, while ANP and JUI-F got one each.
In the federal capital, PPP and the PTI grabbed one seat each. It was the high-voltage competition on the general seat from Islamabad, where PPP candidate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani defeated PTI candidate and Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh.
In Sindh, PPP remained victorious on seven seats, while Muttahida Qaumi Movement and PTI grabbed two seats each.
In Balochistan, Balochistan Awami Party remained the leading party by winning six seats, Balochistan National Party and ANP got one each, JUI-F two, while two independent candidates also won from the province.
It is pertinent to mention that all the eleven candidates elected unopposed from Punjab in which PTI and the PML-N got five seats each and the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid got one.
