Royal Thai Armed Forces Day celebrated

 ISLAMABAD, Colonel & Mrs Adisak Showichen,the Thai defence and military attaché hosted a large reception at Marriott Hotel on the occasion of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Day. The day commemorates King Naresuan’s victorious elephant duel against the Burmese Uparaja, calculated to have been in 1593. Since 2007, the event is celebrated annually on Jan 18.The chief guest on the occasion was Major General Shehzad Malik, High commissioners, ambassadors, Senior military officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces, Defence advisers and attachés’ of Different Countries High Commissioners , Pornpop Uampidhaya, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand and Dean of Diplomatic corps & Ambassador of Turkmenistan H.E Mr.   Atadjan Movlamov also present on the occasion.

 

The cake cutting ceremony took place after the national anthems of both countries had been played. Col Adisak Showichen the defence attaché of Thailand in his speech welcomed the guests and said both Thailand and Pakistan enjoy excellent relations.He added Pakistan’s armed forces are the most professional forces in the world and we have a lot to learn from them. He said praised the cooperation between Thailand and Pakistan since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1951. He said that there is particularly warm cooperation in the defence field, reflected in high level reciprocal visits of military personnel, joint exercises and training.“I strongly believe that the defence cooperation between our two countries will certainly grow, side by side with deepening of our bilateral cooperation,” said Col Adisak Showichen
