Religious minorities facing imminent existential threat in India

Delhi: Religious minorities are facing an imminent existential threat in India as Narendra Modi-led fascist government is hell-bent upon converting the country into a Hindu Rashtra.

According to a report by Kashmir Media Service, not only Muslims but all religious minorities are being targeted and facing systematic persecution at the hands of Hindutva activists.

The Report said lives and worship places of religious minorities are under serious threat in India as violence against minorities has surged since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister.

It said Modi has turned India into ‘a republic of hate’ as the extremist Hindu groups like RSS and BJP promote Hindu supremacy.

The persecution and vilification of minorities have exposed the real face of fascist India.

The report called upon the world community to take immediate steps to end atrocities committed against the religious minorities in India.

The Christians in India faced 486 incidents of violence and harassment during 2021 which has been declared the most violent year for the community.

The United Christian Forum, a rights body that maintains a database of incidents of violence and intimidation in India, said 2021 saw an increase of 74 percent from 2020 when 279 such cases were reported on the UFC’s helpline.

The Forum said more than 104 violent incidents against Christians were recorded in the last two months of 2021.

Meanwhile, Obsession and hostility towards Pakistan is at their peak and has become a key factor in the ongoing election campaign in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

This anti-Pakistan attitude reached another level when Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, in a tweet, called the Samajwadi Party “worshippers of Jinnah” and supporters of Pakistan.

The allegation of support to Pakistan, generally perceived as an enemy nation among extremist Hindus, is tantamount to accusing anyone of “treason”.

Hindu fascist politicians associated with Modi’s BJP uses such absurd and decisive comments to ensure their victory in the elections.

The Samajwadi Party has 13 Muslim candidates in the first phase of UP polls.
