Facebook, Instagram and What’sApp went down on Sunday affecting users around the world. The services were completely inaccessible. According to downdetector.com, which tracks issues with internet platforms, reports about Facebook being down started to emerge at 6.28pm Hong Kong time on Sunday, while Instagram started to have issues at 6.33pm, and What’sApp at 6.58pm. The interruption also affected gameplay for owners of Oculus VR headsets, a company Facebook bought in 2014. Some sites, like Tinder or Spotify, that use Facebook credentials were unable to authorize logins. Workplace, Facebook’s connectivity platform for companies, also suffered issues. Earlier, the social media platforms had all experiencing issues for users worldwide as the Facebook and Instagram were both inaccessible, with news feeds refusing to refresh and the main Facebook.com domain unavailable.
