President COPAIR Amna Munawwar Awan, Uzbek Ambassador H.E Mr. Oybek Arif Usmanov discuss matters of mutual interest, prospects of regional connectivity, security
Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan His Excellency Mr. Oybek Arif Usmanov was called on by President COPAIR and Editor-in-Chief Mélange International Magazine, VoM and TAT Ms. Amna Munawar Awan and Editor in Chief of magazine ‘Pakistan in the World’ Mr. Tazeen Akhtar at COAPIR office, Islamabad on May 27, 2022, amid Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s (SCO) heads of states council which will be held in September in Samarkand. Both dignitaries discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security, connectivity, and economic and bilateral cooperation between the two countries during the meeting. This meeting was also attended by renowned editors of leading papers and magazines. The Ambassador of Uzbekistan briefed about the important direction of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy and determined the resumption of cultural, historical, trade, and economic and international conferences on the regional connectivity of central Asia. His Excellency Mr. Oybek Arif Usmanov informed the active participation of Uzbekistan in the framework of multilateral cooperation institutions, and international and regional organizations and gave importance to Uzbekistan’s partnership with the SCO is of particular importance. His Excellency highlighted the strategy implemented in the SCO space under the leadership of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan, was based on such basic principles as constructiveness, pragmatism and initiative. It is pertinent to mention that, in 2017-2021, the President of Uzbekistan put forward about 50 important and relevant initiatives at the SCO summits. Which is a highly important indicator.
Speaking at the occasion, President COPAIR- Amna Munwwar Awan welcomed the excellency and dignitaries. During the deliberations, regional connectivity, economic cooperation, tourism, Industrial cooperation program, youth participation, and women empowerment remained in focus. President COPAIR also urged for multilateral engagement through the promotion of trade, removal of trade barriers, tourism, and people-to-people contacts.” With ‘peace’ and ‘regional connectivity as the main elements of its geo-economic strategy, Pakistan is going to make rapid strides in diverse fields – up to Central Asia and beyond, she concluded.
The guest dignitaries lauded the undergoing projects and initiatives of COPAIR and also pledged cooperation for the regional connectivity, and regional security to boost trade, economic ties, cooperation and tourism.
