Islamabad ;Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser remarked that encouraging Youth Participation in the political activities would strengthen democratic norms in the society. He said empowering youth especially women would bring social development. He also said that engaging youth and providing them plate forum for growth could transform political culture which respects diversity. He expressed these views on the occasion of Awareness and Advocacy Session on International Day of Parliamentarianism held in Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services (PIPS) in collaboration with Young Parliamentarian Forum in Islamabad today.
While applauding the role of YPF and PIPS, Speaker Asad Qaiser remarked that YPS provided a platform where youth was engaged. He said that more than 60 percent of Pakistan comprised of youth and their political participation would make them aware about legislative process. He mentioned that current parliament of Pakistan 104 members who are of below age 45 and YPF is a vibrant forum to include youth Members in the legislation. He remarked that YPF engages youth from time to time to craft leadership opportunities for Youth. He applauded PIPS which is a dedicated centre of Parliamentary excellence for Youth including internships, trainings, conferences, Seminars. He also acknowledged the support of Shaoor Foundation.
Speaker Asad Qaiser expressed his gratitude Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) Secretary General Mr.Martin Chungong for supporting celeberating the international day of Parliamentarianism. He also mentioned that National Assembly would commemorate Platinum ceremony of its establishment this year and he encouraged the inclusion of young Parliamentarians.
Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim khan Suri said on this occasion that youth participation in politics ensured socio economic development of the country. He also appreciated the role of YPF to inculcate political awarness in youth. He said that IPU , PIPS and YPF together can support young parliamentarians to encourage them to be at leadership role.
Chairperson Parliamentary Task Force Riaz Fitiana, President YPF Shahid Khattak and Members of National Assembly participated in the event.
