PM launches ‘Roshan Apna Ghar’ program for overseas Pakistanis
Prime Minister terms overseas, Pakistanis as huge asset of the country
Prime Minister Imran Khan has launched ‘Roshan Apna Ghar’ program for overseas Pakistanis to acquire property in Pakistan through their Roshan Digital Accounts.
Addressing the launching ceremony in Islamabad on Friday evening, the Prime Minister termed overseas, Pakistanis as huge asset of the country. He said unfortunately, potential of the overseas Pakistanis has never been tapped.
Imran Khan said worth of nine million overseas Pakistanis’ assets abroad is equal to the total GDP of Pakistan, which is a big source of investment to Pakistan.
The Prime Minister said huge impediment in investment from overseas Pakistanis is corruption in the country. He said Ease of Doing Business has improved in the country and efforts are on to enhance it further.
He said the Roshan Apna Ghar scheme will provide a guarantee to the investors and will bring dollars to reduce current account deficit. He said this will also help to have a sustainable growth in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin said this scheme will help to retain the money coming from Roshan Digital Account. He said a massive investment is expected in real estate sector.
Members National Assembly Mir Khan Muhammad Jamali and Sadaqat Ali Abbasi and Punjab Energy Minister Dr. Akhtar Malik called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Friday.
Discussed party restructuring in Balochistan and the province’s political situation.
Mir Khan Muhammad Jamali thanked the Prime Minister for providing record funds from the PSDP for Balochistan.
The Punjab Energy Minister briefed the Prime Minister about the steps taken to address energy issues in the province.
The Minister of State said it is the first time in the country’s history that overseas Pakistanis through digital process will be able to get easy house financing.
Prime Minister Imran Khan says the present government despite various challenges has put the economy on right track and all major economic indicators are showing upward trends.
The Prime Minister was addressing a ceremony in Islamabad in connection with the three-year performance of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf government.
He said that the government’s successful strategy to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic also led to saving the economy and poor masses. The Prime Minister said due to economic mismanagement of the past, the people had to endure price hike and inflation and the government had to take loans from International Monetary Fund on stringent conditionality’s.
He said the PTI government is fully committed to its three guiding principles of humanity, rule of law and self-respect.
Imran Khan said for the first time, the PTI government launched Ehsaas programme and enhanced the social sector allocation from 110 billion rupees to 260 billion rupees.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has underscored the importance of ensuring security as well as protection of the rights of all Afghans.
On the other hands, 16th Board of Directors’ meeting of Public-Private Partnership Authority was held on 27th August 2021 here in Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Mr. Asad Umar, Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives (MoPD&SI). Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Secretary MoPD&SI, the nominee of Secretary Finance Division, Secretary Communications, Member Private Sector Development, Chairman NHA, and two private members of the Board also attended the meeting.
The Board of P3A considered approval of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Agreement for the Construction of Sialkot-Kharian Motorway on a PPP basis (the Project). Earlier the Board had approved Transaction Structure & Bidding Documentation package of the Project and Successful Bidder’s proposal in its meetings held in March 2021 and June 2021 respectively.
The Project envisages the construction of a 69 km green-field 4-lane toll road on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis, at a cost of PKR 27.8 billion. The Project is expected to be constructed in a period of 24 months following the achievement of the Financial Close. The concession Period of the Project is 25 years including the construction period. The government of Pakistan is supporting the financial viability and bankability of the project through the provision of capital and operational Viability Gap Funding (VGF) totaling PKR 10.94 billion. The Project is expected to supplement the existing Lahore-Sialkot and future Kharian-Rawalpindi Motorway to take the motorway network up to the city of Rawalpindi.
The Board approved the PPP Agreement of the Project for its execution between the National Highway Authority and the consortium of Frontier Works Organization and Sultan Mehmood & Co. Besides, aforesaid agenda item, Mr. Malik Ahmad Khan, CEO P3A sought approval of the Board to consider ratification of the earlier decisions taken by the Board’s Executive Committee and the decisions taken through circulation. The Board also approved revised budget estimates of the P3A for the ongoing financial year.
