ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Sunday congratulated Anthony Albanese, also nicknamed as Albo, on his election as the next Prime Minister of Australia.
On his Twitter handle, the prime minister said that the victory of Labour Party represented the trust reposed by the Australian people in his leadership.
“Congratulations Albo, (MP) on election as the next Prime Minister of Australia. The victory of Australian Labor represents the trust reposed in your leadership by the Australian people. I look forward to working with you to further strengthen Pakistan-Australia friendship,” the prime minister posted in a tweet.
The 59-year-old Anthony Albanese is set to become Australia’s next prime minister after leading his Labour Party to its first election victory in more than a decade.
Albo, one of the country’s longest-serving politicians, steered his Labour Party over a coalition alliance that had been in power since 2013. Meanwhile, to another commitment, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif says country will progress, if democracy prevails in the country. Addressing a news conference in Lahore on Sunday, he said that the previous government remained busy in political vendetta instead of completing development works.
The Prime Minister regretted that a welfare project of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute worth twenty billion rupees was ceased just for political revenge.
Shehbaz Sharif said that hospital will provide paid medical facilities to opulent class and funds generated from the treatment of rich people will be utilized for the free medical treatment of patients belonging to the underprivileged class
He said that the Board of Governors of the hospital has been restored for the smooth functioning of the hospital and Dr. Saeed Akhtar is appointed as Chairman of the Board.
He further expressed commitment to establish a world class Nursing University in PKLI within one year.
A report regarding firefighting efforts to contain wildfire in Sherani area of Balochistan province was submitted to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, detailing the ongoing operation in the affected areas.
During a meeting in Lahore the other day, the prime minister had issued direction to the relevant authorities to accelerate their fire dousing operation in the area and summoned a report in this regard.
According to the report, the contents of which were shared by the PM Office Media Wing in a press release on Sunday said that a team consisting of federal and provincial departments had been formed while a control room was set up by the department of forests and wildlife to monitor the situation, besides an emergency was imposed by the commissioner Zhob in the area.
The chief secretary Balochistan, secretary forests, DG PDMA had also visited the affected area to supervise the ongoing operation.
Different teams of about 300 persons were taking part in the operation in Shair Gali, Zargon Zawar, Tor Ghar and Takkai areas.
PM’s special representative and Federal Minister for Housing Maulana Abdul Wasey also chaired a meeting in Zhob which was attended by the chief minister, federal and provincial authorities and the commander 12 Corps.
Firefighting operation in Sherani area intensified under PM’ direction: Report. Wildfire in Sherani forest, Under the prime minister’s direction, in district Sherani, a task force under the supervision of the secretary forests and wildlife Balochistan had been constituted. Besides, a notification related to ‘Village and Area Fire Control’ committees had also been issued.
The report further said the PDMA was providing the required firefighting equipment and rescue vehicles to control spread of wildfire. The NDMA was also supplying the necessary equipment whereas Pakistan Army has provided two helicopters, besides an army base camp was set up which was extending support in the ongoing operation. Further adding to this, Ameer of Jamiat Ahle Hadith Senator Professor Sajid Mir and Senator Hafiz Abdul Karim on Sunday called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
During the meeting, the political situation in the country was discussed in detail. The Ahle Hadith leaders appreciated the prime minister for according priority to the public welfare steps including the price control of commodities to facilitate the common man.
