PM Ehsaas Program significant to transform Pakistan into welfare state


Prime Minister Imran Khan has said Pakistan attaches great importance to the success of SAARC and reaffirms its commitment to the objectives and purposes of its charter.In his message on the 36th SAARC Charter Day, he said the true potential of SAARC can be exploited by adhering to the principles of sovereign equality and mutual respect among the member states.

The Prime Minister hoped the SAARC process would be allowed to move ahead without artificial obstacles being erected in its progress and that the organization would be enabled to function as an effective instrument of regional cooperation. He said it is need of the hour that we move forward with the spirit of cooperation that was instrumental in the formation of the SAARC Referring to Covid-19, Imran Khan said it has further underscored the importance of poverty alleviation for the national governments in a region that is home to one of the world’s largest poor populations and remains one of the least integrated globally. He said now is the time to pool our resources rather than looking inwards for providing a better future to the vulnerable segments of our societies. While taking on tweeter, Prime Minister Imran Khan says five decades later after Mangla and Tarbela, Pakistan is going to build two big water dams of Mohmand and Bhasha. Sharing a video of under construction Mohmand dam on twitter on Tuesday, he said the dam will generate 800MW of hydroelectricity, irrigate over 16,000 acres of land and contribute heavily to the socio-economic uplift of the region. In another tweet, Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed grief and sorrow over the death of prominent business personality Siraj Qasim Teli. In another official commitment, Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Ehsaas Program is pivotal to alleviate poverty and turn Pakistan into a welfare state. He was talking to Special Assistant for Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection Dr. Sania Nishtar in Islamabad today. The Prime Minister appreciated the initiatives taken under the umbrella of Ehsaas program. The Special Assistant briefed the Prime Minister regarding payments being made under Kafalat Program and other projects. Ehaas program driving principles and approaches also center on tapping whole-of-government multi-sectoral collaboration for solutions; ensuring joint federal-provincial leadership; and mainstreaming the role of the private sector through an approach which will provide a level playing field on the one hand and foster locally-relevant innovation on the other, to create jobs and promote livelihood in quick-win areas. The program’s premise is grounded in the importance of strengthening institutions, transparency and good governance.
