Pakistan-Kuwait Ties


Pakistan and Kuwait have been enjoying brotherly ties for over several decades. To further strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Kuwait, Foreign Minister of Kuwait Ahmed Nasser Al-Sabah has paid a two-day visit to Pakistan, on the invitation of FM Qureshi, which has concluded on 19th March 2021 with the meetings of the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan with FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi and PM Imran Khan. During the meeting between FM Qureshi and FM Al-Sabah, the Foreign Ministers reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations, including cooperation in political, economic, defence, trade, and investment sectors, and manpower export, and discussed ways to enhance people-to-people linkages between the two countries. The resolve to continue close collaboration in multilateral fora, in particular, the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), was reaffirmed.

Foreign Minister Qureshi briefed his counterpart on the economic potential of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), in particular its Special Economic Zones. He also invited Kuwait to benefit from the vast and profitable investment opportunities in Pakistan. Moreover, Foreign Minister Qureshi briefed Mr. Al-Sabah on the situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He stressed that peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions, is indispensable for durable peace and security in South Asia.  On the other side, the Foreign Minister of Kuwait appreciated the positive contribution of more than one hundred thousand expatriate Pakistanis towards the development of Kuwait and also thanked Pakistan for its support during the pandemic.

In his meeting with PM Imran Khan, Kuwait’s foreign minister has expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s steadfast support and noted that the two countries always stood by each other at a difficult time. PM Imran Khan has reaffirmed Pakistan’s long-standing fraternal ties with Kuwait, rooted deep in shared faith and culture as he lauded the efforts on both sides to build an enhanced partnership. In a nutshell, the visit of Mr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Sabah has further strengthened the brotherly ties between Pakistan and Kuwait. This will also pave the way for strengthening the economic diplomacy footprint of Pakistan.
