Pakistan gives immense significance to its relations with African countries: FM

Any conflagration in Kashmir region will deteriorate global peace: Bashir Tarar


Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said Pakistan gives paramount importance to its relations with African countries.

Chairing third meeting of economic diplomacy under Engage Africa policy in Islamabad today (Wednesday), he said Africa comprising 54 countries with a population of 1.3 billion is an important continent for Pakistan.
The Minister said under the economic diplomacy, Pakistan organized first Pak-Africa Trade Development conference in Nairobi. He said despite Covid-19 pandemic, Pakistan’s export volume witnessed seven percent rise as a result of this economic diplomacy.
It is pertinent to mention that, Pakistan’s ‘Look Africa’ policy is both timely and marvel in its nature for the African economies across the globe are considered as the ‘lions on the move’. The African continent is a rising market of 1.26 billion people; it is rich in mineral resources and is also an exporter of energy resources. Furthermore, Pakistan has always championed the cause of the African countries at the UN and remained in the forefront of peacekeeping missions in Africa. Apart from Africa being a huge potential market for Pakistani goods, the country’s geo-strategic location and connectivity offers opportunity for African goods to reach Central Asia and South Asia.

He said organizing virtual conferences to promote economic diplomacy have been included in our diplomatic priority areas.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Canada Raza Bashir Tarar has said that any conflagration in the Kashmir region disturb the global peace.
The high commissioner said this in an interview with a Canadian Television.
Raza Bashir Tarar said that India’s revocation of the status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K) and a consistent denial of Kashmiris’ Right to Self-determination are manifestation of an Indian game-plan that dovetails into a larger Hindu supremacist ideology.

He said the changing the special status of IIOJ&K had made it clear that India did not care about anyone even the UN resolutions.
