Xi-Imran meetings reflect China-Pak all-weather strategic partnership
Prime Minister Imran Khan Friday proposed an eight-pronged course of action for Shanghai Cooperation Organization calling for a peaceful coexistence, regional trade, soft and infrastructure connectivity and a framework against corruption and white collar crimes among the member states. Addressing the 19th meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State in Bishkek, the prime minister suggested the reinforcement of the SCO’s vision of cooperation rejecting the confrontation and to advance the imperatives of peaceful co-existence at the regional and international levels. Prime Minister Imran Khan Friday met President of China Xi Jinping wherein both the countries reaffirmed their all weather strategic cooperative partnership. The meeting took place in Bishkek, the Kyrgyz capital, on the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), a PM Office statement said. During the “extremely cordial meeting,” the two leaders discussed the entire gamut of bilateral relations between “iron brothers” China and Pakistan including China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out that his three meetings with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the last eight months were fully reflective of the high level of China-Pakistan all-weather strategic partnership and both countries should carry out closer coordination and cooperation under the changing regional and international situation. Xi Jinping pointed out that in the past eight months, I met with the Prime Minister three times. This fully reflects the high level of ChinaPakistan all-weather strategic partnership,” a statement said issued by Chinese foreign minister here after the meeting between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Imran Khan on the sidelines of SCO summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The Chinese president also remarked that under the changing the international and regional situation, China and Pakistan should carry out closer coordination and cooperation to build a closer community of shared destiny. Prime Minister Imran Khan and Russian President Vladimir Putin held several informal discussions as they attended the 19th Meeting of the Council of the Heads of State (CHS) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). The two world leaders were engaging in conversation on several occasions. Of world leaders present at the SCO meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan interacted with President Putin the most.
