Pakistan desires to maintain the tradition of bilateral engagement with US: COAS

The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s role in Afghan situation, efforts for regional stability

Rawalpindi: Ms Angela Aggeler, US Charge d’ Affairs to Pakistan called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, current security situation in Afghanistan and bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed. COAS said that Pakistan desires to maintain the tradition of bilateral engagement and wishes for an enduring relationship with United States. COAS also reiterated the need for global convergence on Afghanistan for avoiding humanitarian crisis and coordinated efforts for economic uplift of the Afghan people.

The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s role in Afghan situation, efforts for regional stability and pledged to play their role for further improvement in diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) visited Headquarters Inter-Services Intelligence. He was received by Lieutenant General Faiz Hamid, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence. COAS was briefed on the Internal Security and ongoing situation in Afghanistan. Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa expressed his satisfaction over the preparedness of organization.

ISPR also reported that, terrorists fired on a security forces post in Spinwam, North Waziristan. Troops initiated a prompt response and effectively engaged the terrorists’ location. During intense exchange of fire, Sepoy Saifullah (age 25 years, resident of Karak) embraced Shahadat.

Area clearance being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area.
