NSC examines content of the communication, reaffirmed the decisions of the last NSC meeting

ISLAMABAD: Shehbaz Sharif chaired 38th meeting of the National Security Committee of the Cabinet. The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Rana Sanaullah, Ms. Marriyum Aurangzeb, Mr Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of State Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee General Nadeem Raza, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar, former Pak Ambassador to US Mr Asad Majeed and senior civil & Military Officers. The NSC discussed the telegram received from the Pakistan embassy in Washington. The former Pakistan’s ambassador to the US briefed the Committee on the context and content of his telegram. The NSC, after examining the contents of the communication, reaffirmed the decisions of the last NSC meeting. The NSC was again informed by the premier security agencies that they have found no evidence of any conspiracy. Therefore, the NSC after reviewing the contents of the communication, the assessments received, and the conclusions presented by the security agencies, concludes that there has been no foreign conspiracy.

Adding to this, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Friday said that as the humanity faces grave challenge of climate change, it was a must to move swiftly towards green and sustainable development model. The prime minister, in his message on the occasion of World Earth Day, wrote on Twitter that the observance of the Day was a “clarion call” for coordinated global response to protect the planet’s natural ecosystem. “Window for such global action is fast closing. We must move swiftly towards green & sustainable development model,” he remarked. Observed on April 22, the Earth Day is an annual event to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It includes a wide range of events participated by around 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. The official theme for 2022 is “Invest In Our Planet.” Meanwhile to another official commitment, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday stressed the need for all political parties to work together to resolve problems facing the country. In a meeting with Muttahid Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Member of National Assembly Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, he said it was need of the hour to go beyond political interests and provide relief to the people. Overall political situation of the country was discussed in the meeting.  Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui assured the prime Minister of MQM’s full support in this regard. Earlier to this, Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif visited North Waziristan on Thursday. On arrival at Miranshah, the Prime Minister was received by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa. The Prime Minister laid floral wreath at Shuhada monument and offered Fateha for valiant sons of the soil who rendered supreme sacrifices while defending the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan.  According to ISPR, later the Prime Minister was given a detailed briefing on the prevalent security situation with special focus on terrorists’ activities from across the border. The Prime Minister paid rich tributes to the officers and men of the Pakistan Army for their success in breaking the back of terrorism. He said it was not too long ago that terrorists had been indiscriminately targeting innocent men, women, children, educational institutions and state infrastructure across the country. “Thanks to the valiant efforts of our armed forces, fully supported by the nation, we have been successful in defeating and degrading all types of terrorist organisations and dismantling their infrastructure,” he added. The nation stands united in this endeavour, and we shall together succeed insha’Allah, the PM concluded. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the Punjab government to immediately procure 200000 metric tons of wheat for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. While responding to leader of Awami National Party (ANP) Aimal Wali Khan in a tweet on social media platform Twitter on Thursday, he said, “Dear Aimal sb: I have directed the Punjab govt to immediately procure 200000 metric ton of wheat for KP so that the province’s food needs are sufficiently met. More wheat can be purchased if KP needs more. Thank you for bringing this to my knowledge!
