Germany attaches immense importance to its relations with Pakistan: German Envoy
Speaker Asad Qaiser has said that National Assembly of Pakistan strongly desires to intensify cooperation with German Parliament (Bundestag).
Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser has said that Pakistan and Germany enjoys cordial relations. He said that both countries have vast opportunities of cooperation in spheres of investment, manufacturing, education and energy. He also said that Pakistani and German people have longstanding affinity with each other. He expressed these views during his meeting with German Ambassador in Pakistan Mr. Bernhard Stephan Schlagheck who called on him in the Parliament House.
Speaker Asad Qaiser has said that National Assembly of Pakistan strongly desires to intensify cooperation with German Parliament (Bundestag). He congratulated Ms. Bärbel Bas in her election as the President of the Bundestag and extended invitation to visit Pakistan. He said that interaction between Parliamentarians would help explore more avenues of cooperation.
Referring to the potential in manufacturing sector in Pakistan, the Speaker said that German enterprises can invest in Pakistan in the field of Auto Industry as Pakistan auto industry has lot of opportunities for investment and improvement and German companies can harness lot of benefits by investing in Pakistan. He said that cooperation between German and Pakistani universities would help Pakistani students to achieve their highest potential and contribute towards prosperous Pakistan in this age of knowledge based economies. He praised the German development assistance in various sectors.
Mentioning the situation in Afghanistan, the Speaker Asad Qaiser has said that Pakistan desires peaceful and prosper Afghanistan and peace therein was imperative for the regional peace and development. He said that it was an obligation on all world stakeholders to take cognizant of looming humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and should support Afghanistan financially. He also mentioned about the Parliamentary initiatives for enhancing people to people contacts, enhancing trade and addressing strategic issues between both the neighbouring countries. He underlined the need for building border markets for enhancing commercial activities.
German Ambassador in Pakistan Mr. Bernhard Schlagheck said that Germany also attaches immense importance to its relations with Pakistan. He said that German Parliament strongly desires to intensifying cooperation with National Assembly of Pakistan. He acknowledged that Pakistan has lot of opportunities in diverse sectors and German businessmen and industrialist would certainly like to participate. He said that Germany and Pakistan have lot of shared destinations of progress and development to traverse on. He agreed for cooperation between Pakistani and German educational institutions for knowledge sharing. He assured German assistance through German development foundations.
