Gen Bajwa’s extension widely hailed

Extension in service of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has been widely hailed by political leaders and termed the action by the prime minister need of the hour. In this connection,  Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi here on Monday lauded the decision of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s about extension in service of Army chief and said that the decision will give a message of national unity.

Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed says Prime Minister Imran Khan by granting an extension in Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa’s tenure has sent out a message across the globe that the democratic government and military are on the same page. In a video message posted on his official Twitter handle, he said the extension in Gen Bajwa’s tenure is a great decision in view of the critical situation in India-occupied Kashmir and Indian PM Narendra Modi’s aggression against Pakistan.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Naeemul Haq, welcoming an extension in the tenure of Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa for another three years, said on Monday the entire nation can feel “comfortable that leadership of our armed forces is in good hands. I welcome the extension of General Bajwa for another term,” he said in a tweet. “His leadership, integrity and patriotism is critical at this crucial juncture when Pakistan is facing a grave crisis in Kashmir. The whole nation can feel comfortable that leadership of our armed forces is in good hands.”

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan on Monday appreciated Pakistan Army’s professionalism, efforts in the fight against terrorism and contributions towards regional peace. “Pakistan Army and government are on the same page for regional peace, she said in a statement.

The Special Assistant termed the Afghan peace process as very important for regional peace, adding that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Bajwa played a key role in Afghan peace efforts.

Peace resorted in tribal areas due to the sacrifices of Pakistan army and nation. Pakistan rendered matchless sacrifices to eliminate terrorism from the country, she added. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that nation voted for Imran Khan and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to get rid of hereditary politics and old system.

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidion Monday expressed on the extension of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s tenure that you don’t replace the captain during a war so the decision must have been considered carefully. Ali Zaidi said that COAS Bajwa needed the extension in his tenure and the political leadership must have scrutinized the situation before appointing him for another three years.
