COAS, EU envoy discuss matters of mutual interest, regional security situation
Two soldiers embrace martyrdom in IED explosion: ISPR
Rawalpindi: Her Excellency Mrs Androulla Kaminara, Ambassador of European Union (EU) called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), today.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation including current situation of Afghanistan and enhanced bilateral cooperation with European Union (EU) were discussed. COAS said that Pakistan values its relations with EU countries and we earnestly look forward to enhance mutually beneficial multi-domain relations based on common interests.
The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s role in Afghanistan situation, including successful evacuation operations, efforts for regional stability and pledged to play their role for further improvements in diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.
Rawalpindi: ISPR reported that Security Forces conducted area clearance operation in Dosalli, North Waziristan District. During area clearance, An IED exploded. Resultantly, 2 soldiers, Sepoy Zia Akram, age 25 years, resident of Muzaffarabad and Sepoy Musawwar Khan, age 20 years resident of Bajur embraced shahadat.
Pakistan army troops immediately cordoned the area to apprehend the terrorists involved in planting IED. During intense exchange of fire one of the terrorists trying to flee got killed. Clearance operation is still in progress to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area.
ISPR also reported that, Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza posted Commander Rawalpindi Corps, Lieutenant General Muhammad Chiragh Haider Commander Multan Corps. Lieutenant General Azhar Abbas appointed Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Muhammad Waseem Ashraf appointed Director General Joint Staff Headquarters.
