Chinese envoy lauds FBR’s tax facilitation initiatives

The Ambassador of China in Pakistan, Yao Jing Wednesday appreciated the steps taken by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to facilitate the taxpayers. During a call on meeting with Chairman FBR Syed Muhammad Shabbar Zaidi at FBR Headquarter, he particularly lauded those measures that focus on redressing the grievances of taxpayers, said an FBR press statement issued here.

According to the statement, the ambassador also welcomed the appointment of Syed Shabbar Zaidi as Chairman of the board. He expressed the hope that under his command the FBR would be able to devise a strategy to achieve its targets in the long run. The ambassador said that State Taxation Administration of the Peoples Republic of China, which is a revenue collecting authority in China, would be willing to cooperate with FBR to enable both the departments learn each other’s best practices for mutual benefit. Later talking to the Country Director World Bank (WB) Pakistan Patchamuthu Illangovan (Illango) said Wednesday that the bank was assisting the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in introducing business-friendly measures and reforming the taxation system. During a call on meeting with FBR Chairman, Syed Muhammad Shabbar Zaidi, the WB head appreciated the measures taken by FBR to facilitate the taxpayers particularly the steps to redress the grievances of taxpayers, said a statement issued by the board.
