COAS resolves to thwart spoilers’ designs against CPEC: ISPR


RAWALPINDI, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday reiterated the resolve to thwart designs of spoilers of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) during a call on visit paid by Chinese Ambassador Nong Rong, here at GHQ.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, developing Afghanistan situation and regional security were discussed in detail, said an ISPR news release.

The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s sincere efforts for bringing peace and stability in the region, especially in the light of recent developments in Afghanistan and reiterated that China would continue to support Pakistan as a strategic partner. It is noted that, Director General Inter Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar on Tuesday paid tributes to the martyrs, ghazis and their loved ones for indomitable national spirit, patriotism and valor for rendering sacrifices to safeguard the motherland. The DG took to micro blogging website Twitter to share a special tribute video depicting the martyrs and their families showing insurmountable resolve to defend the country at all costs which is the fifth one in the series showing different life accounts of the families of martyrs and ghazis with the title “Defence & Martyrs’ Day.”He wrote on his official account, “Salute to the martyrs, ghazis and all of the relatives belonging to them. Martyrs of Pakistan, our pride.”The tweet was followed by hashtags #6September #ShuhadaKoSalam. Earlier, the ISPR DG in his news conference announced that this year’s Defence and Martyrs’ Day theme was “Our martyrs our pride, salute to all the relatives belonging to the ghazis and shaheeds.”He said the ceremony for this year would be held under strict COVID-19 protocols with full national zeal and fervor.  According to                ISPR, closing Ceremony of Pakistan-Kazakhstan Joint Military Exercise “Dostarym III” was held today at National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC), Pabbi.

The exercise was aimed to develop, strengthen and bolster military cooperation between the two countries in the face of emerging counter terrorism and counter-insurgency domains. Special Forces of both the countries took part in Hostage & Rescue, Compound clearance, Heli Rappelling and Close Qtr Battle (CQB) and exchanged the first-hand experience and ideas. The exercise focused on integrated synergy, interoperability, quick decision making and swift action at tactical level. The exercise furthered reinforce the mutual cooperation and understanding between the two states to effectively counter the threats.

Major General Ahsan Gulrez, Director General Military Training graced the occasion as chief guest. Military officials of Kazakhstan were also present.

ISPR also reported that, during area clearance by Security Forces, an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in Asman Manza, South Waziristan District. Resultantly, a soldier, Sepoy Wajid Ullah (age 25 years, r/o Karak) embraced shahadat.Own troops immediately cordoned the area to apprehend the terrorists involved in planting IED.
