Bill Gates visits Pakistan


Microsoft co-founder and billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates met made his first-ever visit to Pakistan. During the day-long visit Bill Gates called on Prime Minister Imran Khan. Both dignitaries discussed Pakistan’s Polio campaign and also matters of mutual interests. Bill Gates lauded Pakistan’s success against Covid-19 despite resources constraints and introducing excellent initiatives besides taking measures for public health safety. Later, Bill Gates along with his delegation attended the NCOC session. Bill Gates and his delegation were apprised about NCOC’s role and methodology, achievements since the start of the pandemic, the recent Covid-19 situation across Pakistan and various non-pharmaceutical interventions placed by NCOC to control disease spread and ensure public safety beside wellbeing. A comprehensive review of Pakistan’s efforts against Covid-19 was presented to the visiting delegation. The Foundation is playing a critical role in the elimination of polio in Pakistan as well as supporting the financial system through various interventions. It focuses on eliminating global inequities and increasing opportunities for those in need through programs addressing global agricultural and economic development, medical research, and public health initiatives in developing countries. President Dr. Arif Alvi conferred Hilal-e-Pakistan on American technologist and philanthropist Bill Gates in recognition of his commendable services to the people of Pakistan, particularly for the eradication of polio. The visit of Bill Gates depicts Pakistan’s serious efforts to mitigate the pandemic crisis as well as polio eradication. Furthermore, it will also assist avenues of further cooperation on various projects under SDGs. It is pertinent to mention that such visits of high dignitaries further boost Pakistan’s position in the global world furthermore it will undermine misperceptions and propagandas invoked by the adversaries across the globe.
