Armed forces ready for any internal, external challenges: President Alvi
President says PAF has a proud history of defending the country’s aerial frontiers
President Dr Arif Alvi while addressing a ceremony after witnessing PAF’s fire power demonstration in Sonmiani Wednesday said the country’s armed forces are capable and ready to face any internal and external challenges. Dr Arif Alvi said the armed forces stood in complete synergy during the two-decade long war on terrorism. Pakistan armed forces have always demonstrated their resolve and capability against any aggression, he affirmed. The President appreciated PAF’s pursuit for modernization through indigenization.
“Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has a proud history of defending the country’s aerial frontiers. We wish to maintain peaceful relations with all the nations especially the neighbors. We are not oblivious to safeguarding our national interests and sovereignty. “Pakistan will always stand by the Kashmiri people in their just struggle for right to self-determination. “International community must bring an end to blatant human rights violations and curfew in occupied Kashmir and expedite the resolution of Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.
Earlier, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) demonstrated its firepower at Sonmiani Firing Range on Wednesday. President Arif Alvi, Air Chief Marshall Mujahid Anwar Khan, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mehmood Hayat among others observed the PAF’s firepower demonstration. The PAF’s JF-17 Thunder Aircraft, helicopter gunships and Commandos of Special Services Wing displayed their professional skills. Meanwhile, other fighter aircrafts are flying at lightning speed and dropping bombs on the designated targets.
It is worth mentioning that a day earlier, the Pakistan Navy successfully test-fired a land-based anti-ship missile ‘Zarb’ as part of training exercise from the coastal region. The missile successfully followed its preplanned trajectory and accurately engaged the target at sea, according to a Pakistan Navy spokesperson. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi witnessed the exercise as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the naval chief expressed his utmost satisfaction on the operational readiness of the Pakistan Navy. He said Pakistan’s pursuit of peace and stability has to be taken in the context of its quest for maintaining a peaceful coexistence in the region and not to be misconstrued as weakness. Pakistan Navy, being a professionally competent and potent force, is fully capable of thwarting any aggression with an iron fist, Admiral Abbasi said; adding operationalisation of Zarb Weapon System is depictive of Pakistan’s strong resolve and high level of preparedness.
